The Gates of Ninevah. The Abyssinian statues are authentic, the doors are a recreation from records. I think the metal had survived but not the wood. The metal straps are engraved with scenes; they formed a kind of record keeping relating to events under the king's reign. It was interesting in this visit, I kept bumping in tour groups who had various foci. This tour group was a biblical one. He was telling them the story of Jonah and explaining that when he finally obeyed and came to Ninevah these were the closed gates that he had to look up at and knock on to beg permission to enter the city and then to approach the king.
