Life Firsts...

Well, I've now had a shower curtain fall on me for the first time. Thankfully without the squeaky music and flashing knife reminscent of Psycho. It seems that our shower curtain, in keeping with some of the dodgy architecture around the house, isn't actually fized to anything. It's just kind of balanced gingerly between the two walls...

I've also now discovered that gammon is some kind of salty pig, a bit like corned silverside is for cows... Buying it though is rather like hunting and then having to go home and dress the kill. It's a highly visceral experience trying to strip out the layers of fat and cut the meat away from the bone. It's a highly visual reminder that what you're eating was trotting around a barn (or more likely a warehouse) within the last few weeks rather than simply showing up in a neat little package at the supermarket. It was almost enough to make me go vegetarian.. almost... It tastes quite nice with brown sauce and mustard.
